Important Physical Characteristics: Nick is seventeen years old and hasn't hit his growth spurt yet (unless otherwise specified), and as such is quite short, but rather brawny for a boy. He has light brown skin, dark hair that reaches a little past the tops of his ears, and hazel eyes. He's hardly ever dressed nicely; most of the time he wears clean but simple clothes in shades of green and brown, circa 1887, and a green cap he's rather fond of.

Nicolas Barklow is one of seven Astral Knights—the Queen's secret guard made up of the most elite astromancers, or users of astral magic. Nick is the Knight born under the sign of Jupiter, and as such he's a shapeshifter, and can cause plants to grow at will. He's very powerful but not very skilled yet; he's only been a candidate for the Astral Order for less than a year, and has absolutely no experience in actual combat.

Nick is originally an orphan from the East End of London, and speaks in a Cockney accent. He's lived a tough life and has a bit of a chip on his shoulder, but he's managed to survive pretty well on his own thus far (with perhaps quite a bit of luck). He took this job for the money, and while it's been much harder than he thought it would be, he's got food, a roof over his head, and more money than he knows what to do with.

As for the job itself, he doesn't take it all that seriously. He frequently skips out on training sessions, and would much rather be out in the gardens lazing about than putting in the hours of practice that are expected of him. Because of that, he's almost constantly in trouble. He doesn't always get along with the other Knights and certainly not the other trainees—he's getting tired of being treated like he's beneath everybody all the time.

***For pups who can sense magic: If your pup can sense the amount and/or location of magical energy, Nick has a lot of it. (How much, relatively, is up for discussion of course.) The convergence of his energy (or any other Jupiter astromancer's) is located at the very center of his torso, just beneath his ribcage. Your pup may also notice another source of energy, contained in a sword-shaped pendant that Nick normally wears beneath his clothing.

One more important note! I suck at writing anything close to an accurate Cockney dialect. Uh. Please forgive me? I'm working on it. >.<
